The Growing Participator Approach (GPA)

We use the GPA method, focusing on natural language acquisition through meaningful interaction rather than rote memorization.

Our Programs

The 6 Phases of GPA

Our curriculum is structured around the 6 phases of the Growing Participator Approach, guiding you from absolute beginner to advanced fluency.

Phase 1: Here-and-Now

Focus on massive listening and understanding basic vocabulary. You'll use props and pictures to learn without speaking or reading initially, building a silent period foundation just like a child learning their first language.

Phase 2: Story Building

Begin speaking in basic sentences. We introduce wordless picture books to help you construct simple stories and describe daily life events, bridging the gap between passive listening and active speaking.

Phase 3: Shared Storying

Dive into familiar stories and personal experiences. You will practice recounting events, engaging in more complex conversations, and starting to navigate social interactions in the local community.

Phase 4: Deep Culture

Explore cultural themes, local history, and societal norms. Discussions become more abstract and nuanced, allowing you to express opinions, argue points, and understand the worldview of your host culture.

Phase 5: Native-to-Native Discourse

Focus on understanding how native speakers interact with each other. You will analyze recordings, TV shows, and natural conversations to grasp idioms, humor, and rapid, unfiltered speech.
